Book Review: You Are A Badass

If you're looking for self-book and not sure where to start, You Are A Badass is probably the best choice!

If you're looking for self-book and not sure where to start, You Are A Badass is probably the best choice!

You Are A Badass, written by Jen Sincero, is a very easy book to read for those who are relatively new to the self-help. The chapters are short but very concise. Most of them are in an outline form so it doesn't feel overwhelming. I especially love that it's written in that manner as it's easier to digest the content of the book. Just imagine if you're reading an instruction manual, wouldn't it be better to read it step by step, rather than reading a bunch of paragraphs?!

The book is divided into 5 parts. These five parts will be what I will discuss further in this blog post. So if you're interested to know more about the book, then continue reading.

Part I: How You Got This Way

The first part of the book discusses how and why we are who we are at the moment. Most of the time, who we are at the moment is the product of culture, traditions, and beliefs that have been passed down from one generation to another. The environment where we are in also affects how you view your life.

Understanding who we are is a very crucial step in moving forward with our life. This is where our badassness come about... if we decide to settle on who we currently are. Or we take steps to wake up that the awesomeness sleeping soundly inside of us.

Part II: How to Embrace Your Inner Badass

Part II tackles a lot about self-love. The book tells us to accept ourselves, flaws and all. Loving oneself is the first step in unleashing our inner badass. Once we actually take some time to really appreciate every inch of us, we're actually helping ourselves to find our purpose... what drives us, what motivates us in this lifetime. This is probably the toughest part as well, knowing how it's so easy to fall victim to our insecurities. Learning to truly appreciate who we are and being not afraid of what the future may bring, will not only attract positive energy into our lives but also open doors for opportunities.

Part III: How to Tap Into the Motherlode

So how do we know what is our purpose? Part III helps us to get in touch yourself deeply through meditation and other tips to make our lives even better. We usually are so caught up with what's going on around us that we forget to take time to be present. Meditation will enable us to be truly aware of what's going on inside of our heads. Another important thing that will help us to live an awesome life is to be grateful for who we were, who we are and who we will be. This will not only generate a great amount of positivity into our lives but also attract them.

Part IV: How to Get Over Your BS already

Now, that we know who we are and how to live an awesome life, it's time to just get over the stories that we have created for ourselves. It's time to throw away all doubts, fears, and anxieties of what the future may bring. Make new stories that will bring out the badass out of us. Take that small step towards our goal, it's better than nothing. Make time to do the things you love and passionate about. Spend some time to be the people you love. Just get over your old self, and awaken the awesome person inside you!

Part V: How To Kick Some Ass

This is finally the time to unleash our inner badass and get to that awesome life. Remember that things will still not be pretty on the journey towards that awesome life. Just do your best, and surrender that things will just definitely fall right into place!
